Tiny homes built with timeless techniques

Tiny Timbers specializes in true mortise and tenon timber-framed tiny homes.

Located in Central Pennsylvania, Tiny Timbers serves the tiny house movement through the best craftsmanship, materials, and tools. We build small timber frame homes using traditional joinery known as mortise and tenon. No metal fasteners and no modern framing techniques––we believe in letting our work shine with beautiful, traditional timber framing that make these exquisitely designed and handcrafted structures a piece of art in themselves.

Tiny Homes Built By True Craftspeople

From forest to completion of your tiny home, our team is there every step of the way.

Your build begins where it should, with trees cut from our own properties in Central Pennsylvania. We harvest and mill our own lumber onsite, with sustainably replaced white pine and hemlock as our primary stock.

Then, our small crew of Amish craftspeople, with deep experience in timber-framing, use hand-tools and wooden hammers to manipulate and refine your timber for the precision joinery of mortise and tenon post-and-beam construction. This hand-crafted approach to framing shines front and center inside your tiny home, with interior and exterior finishes tailored to your tastes.

From the first harvested tree to delivery, we’re on-site every step of the way through the building process––and you can be too. Our clients are hands-on, involved from day one in their tiny house build to make it the tiny home you’ve been dreaming of.

Why Tiny Timbers?

You chose a small home for a reason––make sure you love every inch of it with the beauty of timber framing and traditional joinery.

The mortise and tenon joint is an ancient crafting technique that dates back over 7,000 years. Mortise and tenon joints are strong, stable, and remarkably durable, lasting for hundreds of years under the right conditions, and without many of the inherent flaws of modern framing techniques.

But perhaps most important, we build timber framed tiny homes with mortise and tenon joinery to let you enjoy the beauty of this traditional woodwork and craftsmanship in a space you love.

Exposed beams, natural wood, and fine craftsmanship are features of every one of our build projects.

Tiny Homes On Trailers

In much the same way the tiny home movement got started, Tiny Timbers cut our teeth with tiny houses on trailers, too.

For many, building a tiny home is about freedom: from traditional home ownership, freedom from the accumulation of things, and freedom of movement.

That’s why Tiny Timbers offers timber frame tiny homes on trailers, built travel-ready. Our timber frame tiny homes on trailers can range in size from 14 feet 30 feet.

Small Cabins

Not everyone craves the nomadic lifestyle. We build timber frame small cabins, timber frame barns, and tiny homes on traditional foundations, too. For foundation timber frame structures, we can travel within a few hours of the Central Penn region.

Your beautifully crafted small cabin, with all of the amenities of a traditional house, are within reach.
